As a woman entrepreneur and a known "storyteller" herself, Julie’s passion for healthcare starts with being able to share a patient's story and then simplifying complex scientific data. Having been a caregiver herself to her mother who battled a rare form of cancer called leiomyosarcoma, Julie brings a compassionate perspective and approach to PR campaigns. As a communications professional, she has been utilizing creative communication strategies and elevating the profession for healthcare communications for more than 20 years. 

Julie has a passion for women empowerment and helping mentor and guide other women succeed in public relations. She frequently speaks at women’s empowerment events and takes time to mentor other young professionals as they are starting their careers. She also has served on the boards of Step Up and the American Cancer Society Associate Board of Ambassadors and more recently serves on the Executive Council of The Stork Foundation for Infertility. 

In 2017, Julie Ferguson began serving as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, DePaul University, where she teaches undergraduate courses in Media Relations, Healthcare Communications and Public Relations Writing. She also teaches graduate classes in Law and Ethics and Healthcare Campaigns through the award-winning PR and Advertising graduate program. Julie continues to elevate the profession of public relations with her growing team of professionals. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly a decade as a public affairs professional at Abbott in Chicago. She also worked as a vice president at Ketchum working on clients Cleveland Clinic and Takeda. After many years serving as company spokesperson in-house at other notable health care companies like Hospira, Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb, Julie launched her own company, JFPRMedia Group in 2016, to bring her brand of PR to the market, to cut through the clutter and generate powerful publicity with her kind, genuine personality.
